How the New Yorker created The New Yorker Taupo

Welcome to The New Yorker Taupo, where we bring a taste of New York City to the heart of New Zealand! Whether you're strolling down Tongariro Street or taking in the stunning views of Lake Taupo, we're here to make you smile and satisfy your cravings for authentic NYC flavors.

My journey began in Harlem, where I was born and later raised in the vibrant borough of the Bronx, New York. Life took an exciting turn when I married a beautiful New Zealander, leading me to this wonderful corner of the world. But I couldn’t leave my love for NYC cuisine behind.

At our shop located at 73 Tongariro Street, or at our mobile cart on Taupo’s beautiful lakefront, you’ll find a delicious selection of American hotdogs, bagels, and ice cream pizza that will transport you straight to the streets of the Big Apple. And don’t forget to try our rich, creamy American milkshakes—perfect for a sweet treat any time of the day. We even have vegan options, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

Before bringing these flavors to Taupo, I honed my craft in New York City, where I had the incredible opportunity to create gelato and sorbet for some of the city’s finest restaurants as part of the Ciao Bella Gelato Company. Now, my passion for authentic, quality food continues here in Taupo, where my wife and I are thrilled to share a slice of NYC with you.

Come by and experience a little New York magic in Taupo. We can’t wait to see you!
